Description: Antique Sonneberg Motschmann Taufling Baby doll with wax over composition or paper mache head, wood arms and lower legs and lower torso. Cloth floating joints shoulders and knees. Pupil-less glass eyes attached to some mechanism, move, but don't close all the way. Crier bellows in mid-section still attached and compresses, but no sound. Hands pivot around, feet move a little. Cloth upper arm joints worn and fragile, knee joints covered with new fabric, probably similarly worn. Maybe some old restoration paint. Interesting brushwork hair at the sides of the head. Very vintage bonnet and gown. Gown has lost some of the lighter weight cotton centers of the woven pattern, but still holding together. One buttonhole in back torn but still usable. Older pantaloons with spots, simple half slip. No shoes or socks. From the estate and personal collection of Dian Zillner, author of numerous books on Dolls, Doll accessories, and Doll Houses. Many of the listed items have been used as illustrations in her books. We are not doll experts, but have done our best to describe the items listed and their condition as accurately as possible.
