Description: Presented is a rare and interesting Irish Georgian sterling silver straining spoon. This piece is a similar size and shape to a classical stuffing or casserole spoon, however there is a grate at the center of the bowl used to strain foods. There are engravings along the handle of the piece, and a crest at the center with an armored arm holding a dagger. The hallmarks are somewhat faded, however, with a loop we were able to identity the Hibernia mark for Dublin, the date letter H representing 1754-1756, and the maker's mark IL, mostly likely representing John Laughlin Senior. This piece is in good condition considering age. There has been a repair to the shaft of the handle just below the engravings. The handle might have been broken and soldered together. There are other repairs or problems. Length: 12 1/2 inches Weight: 145.5 grams or 5 ounces -kc Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
