Description: 144 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE 144 Offering a stunning, antique original hand-painted Ketubah or Marriage Contract. This vividly painted marriage document is framed and under glass and has been kept away from the light. The entire piece with wood frame measures 37" X 30.5". The certificate alone measures about 35" X 27.5". I have shown in the photos that I opened the back to confirm this is an original document. It is in excellent condition with no tears or major stains. The hand painted colors show though the paper to a certain extent and there is some foxing. The fold lines in the paper show that it was clearly used in a ceremony and then traditionally folded for the mother of the bride to keep. The painted design is of the sun rising behind lions. There are birds and stylized flowers. The rim has lines of Hebrew writing hand-painted all along the edge and framed by a wash of deep rose coloring. The entire effect is one of joyful, happy youth. The square at the center which was where the terms of the marriage would have been written, is faded to almost white. The ink lettering of the Rabbi has disappeared, absorbed over the decades. There are a few faint lines in Hebrew visible at the top part but the rest is gone with time. This is a rare and phenomenal piece in excellent condition, with design and colors still joyfully vibrant. Well framed and ready to hang. FREE DOMESTIC SHIPPING!
