Description: Set of five c.1800s Federal period tiger maple side chairs, featuring a striking natural grain with tiger stripe figuring. The chairs have curved backrests with an arched top rail and saber legs, constructed with dowel connections and pinned mortise-and-tenon joints. The seats are complete with hand-woven caned, fitted tightly within the wooden frame. The chairs are in useable condition, with imperfections throughout from age, including nicks/scratches, chips, gouges, marks, stains, old repairs, etc. The cane is intact on all chairs, with one chair having a small hole (last picture.)
