Antique 1880s BRONZE SCULPTURE Fonderia Nelli Roma "SILENUS" greek god LAMP rare

Description: This auction is for an extremely RARE lamp - it was made of bronze in the 1880s (according to my research, it dates to somewhere during that time period) in the Nelli Foundry in Rome - (fonderian nelli roma, as marked on the base). It was made by artist Alessandro Nelli. It was likely illuminated by a candle originally (see last pic from the only example i found on line, it's shade appears to be lit by a candel, like this one may have been originally, although i think this same lamp pictured was also electrified at some point). I think both lamps pictured (mine and one in last pic) were probably just made as bronze statues originally in the Nelli Foundy. The bronze stature depicts "SILENUS" wrestling a SNAKE. Heavy Bronze and in excellent condition, with a stained and leaded glass shade, and the finial is a heavy bronze girl hugging a goose (maybe a goose, some kind of bird). The only issue with this lamp that i see is one small crack on one petal of one of the white flowers - shown in one photo. See pic. The height of the lamp overall is approximately 23 inches tall, and the height of the figure (Silenus) is approximately 13 inches from foot to tip of hand (his heighest point). Weight of lamp is just a tad under 13 pounds, ship weight will probably be 15 or 16 pounds. ******* info "borrowed" from another site: A Bronze of Selenus by Alessandro Nelli, Parlanti Foundry, Rome, late 19th century, after the Roman original bronze discovered in Pompeii and now in Naples Museum. The drunken Silenus wrestling a serpent, after the original Roman bronze discovered at Pompeii in 1864. Later mounted as a table lamp. Alessandro Nelli (1842-1897) was an Italian entrepreneur and founder of the Fonderia Nelli (Nelli Foundry), which was the leading sculpture foundry in Rome from 1880 to 1900. He participated in both national, international and universal exhibitions, winning several prizes and medals and exported more than one hundred pieces to the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago.
