Description: The Putz pieces from Germany come in quite a few sizes, from really tiny, to fairly large, more sophisticated pieces. This one is medium sized, and is made to display in Christmas Putz Villages. "Putz" is the German word for plaster, and many of the antique pieces were made from "composite" - a combination of glue, sawdust, and ... plaster. This word has stuck for all the little village scenes, regardless of their size and age. They are meant to be a mixture of whatever you have in your family. Age and size don't really matter - they are all combined in a generational scene that is individual to each family. The antique pieces were often sold in playsets, and then sometimes as individual pieces that could be added to a set. This one is 3 3/4" tall, and goes well with the composition figures that are between 2 1/2" and 3 1/2" tall. Of course, the smaller pieces look fine with it as well. It is a cute piece, marked Germany on the bottom, and won't disappoint.
