Description: This is an original vintage signed 8" x 10" photograph of Harriet Hoctor. Double weight, sepia matte finish with full borders. It was *hand signed* by Ms. Hoctor to a Mary Jane. The owner believed this was Mary Jane Halsey, who was also in the film "The Great Ziegfeld" (1936) as one of the Glorified girls. It is circa 1930s - during the time Hoctor was in the Ziegfeld movie and the next year when she danced in "Shall We Dance" with Fred Astaire; she appeared as herself in "The Great Ziegfeld." Composer George Gershwin composed a symphonic orchestral piece (Hoctor's Ballet) specifically for Hoctor in the film "Shall We Dance" (1937) which starred Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Excellent, near mint condition. Fortunately, this was placed in a frame and, for decades, it was kept wrapped up to protect it; it never saw light during that time. The only flaw is a very light scrunching on the top right corner, not even visible under glass and most angles. No dents, chips, bumps, creases, tears, fleabites or yellowing. To keep the shipping cost down, this will be shipped in an envelope between cardboard stiffeners. Contact us if you'd prefer that it be shipped in a box at an additional cost. Where possible, we will combine items to reduce shipping costs; please contact us before paying if you'd like us to combine listings.
