Description: For sale is a Rare! Antique 19th C Salt glazed Stoneware beer Mug/stein with Cobalt Blue decoration and around-the-wall molded relief. One side of the wall features a motto written in old German, which after my best attempt of translation seems to say “Do not attempt Adam with Apple. Instead, give him Bavarian Beer.” This would certain suggest that the maker origin of the stein to be Germany. The other side of the wall features four happy drunkard figures. Nice glazed surface shows great patina and nice cobalt blue color all around. It measures 4” tall, 3” in diameter at the rim (and 2” more wide when including the handle). Great condition with only two very tight hairlines in the interior glaze near the rim. Not too noticeable.See the last photo for details. Other than this one issue, pretty perfect. No cracks, chips, or losses are detected. Ship with careful packaging and full insurance. Feel free to check out my other antique and collectible listings. I gladly combine shipping whenever practical.
