Description: This is a large American Cased Hall Clock. The mahogany case has a scalloped bonnet. There are two full columns on the hood and also in the waist. The door in the waist is glazed with beveled plate glass. There are matching carved oval rosettes applied on the hood, waist and base. The feet are bun style. There are cloth backed pierced wooden frets on the sides of the hood. The English 8 day movement has a 1902 patent date stamped on the back plate and "Bigelow & Kennard Co, Boston" stamped on the front plate. This is a Five tube full Westminster movement. The 3 polished brass weights are hung by cables. The polished brass pendulum bob is on a metal rod. The nickel plated tubes are suspended across the back of the case. The arched dial has a moon phase and is painted with a harbor scene and a landscape. The dial plate is brass with applied gilt fretwork and spandrels. The engraved silvered chapter ring has applied gilt Arabic numerals and a separate engraved seconds bit. This clock dates from 1905-1910, was sold by Shreve & Co. in San Francisco and is in excellent original condiiton.
