Description: Antique African Tuareg Takoba (takuba, takouba) Sword & Hand Tooled Scabbard 19th CenturyBlade is 30.75"/78cm long. Whole length 36"/91.44cm long. Scabbard is 29"/73.66cm longBlade is 1.5" wide at the crossguard. Crossguard is 4 5/8" wide, iron wrapped in leather. Hilt 5.5"/14cm long.Blade has 3 fullers on both sides of blade with the distinctive tapered blade and rounded tip, indicative of the Takoba blades. All leather, hand tooled scabbard. There is wear to both the sword and scabbard. Scabbard sword belt looks to have been stored for a significant amount of time wrapped around the scabbard. The chape is intact but open at the end, probably because the sword is about 2" too long to fit completely in the scabbard and is tight. We do have to say that both the sword and scabbard look to be from the same time period. Please reach out if you have any questions after viewing the photographs.
