Description: Heats right up when plugged in. The main attraction is the beautiful glass lid- they don't make things like that anymore! I did not try to pop corn in it; I think it's reasonable to expect that this will not work as efficiently as a popcorn maker you can go buy right now. It does heat up, and there was no smoke and no smell of burning- but it is around 100 years old. It's an attractive piece but please don't buy it expecting to be able to whip up some popcorn!
