Description: Antique circa 1830’s Georgian theatrical tinsel picture depicting Mr. Wilson as Jose Speckbacher in The Love Test. Framed, under glass, in period wood frame.Tinsel prints were created from etched portraits of theatrical stars in popular roles on the London stage. These prints were hand-painted with watercolor, then collaged with tinsel, leather, feathers & various other decorative scraps. During the first half of the 19th century this became a popular adult hobby & by the 1830s it was possible to buy specific ornaments to go with each image.'As Found / As Pictured' antique condition.
