Description: This is one of the oldest and best 'Cape Cod' fire starters I've had...it was probably made around 1900-1910 and it is a heavy cast kettle that is 8" tall. The lighter fluid is held in the kettle and absorbed by the stone ball and will burn long enough to ignite a fire without the need for a lot of kindling...when I was a kid in Maine we had one of these and used it whenever the fog rolled in. They are very useful and very decorative...especially this one which has a folky mountain waterfall scene on one side, and the old worn look of cast iron on the other...your choice what shows!
