Description: This listing is for an authentic antique cast iron pharmacists or apothecary mortar. I do not have the pestle. Mortar has a wide base, with good flare, but is not maker marked. It is 7-3/4" in height; has an outside diameter of 9" at top rim; and an outside diameter of 7-7/8" at bottom. This is a used antique cast iron mortar. It is in as found condition, and shows wear from age, use and mis-use. Looks like it may have seen service as a planter. It has a great patina of old oxidation, with some pitting but no scaling. There are no bends, breaks, chips, cracks, repairs, welds, or off odors. Please refer to "Condition" above, and photographs for more information. This is cast iron and very heavy, weighing over twenty pounds before packaging. This antique mortar is absolutely old and authentic and sells, with no reserve.
