Description: Civil War Militaria Collectors - here is a civil war era collectible portrait engraving or photo (I am not sure) of General Sigel. This is not period not reproductions 6" x 8" Framed engraving or photo of Civil War Union General Franz Sigel (1824 - 1902) The prior owner of this photo says it is circa 1860's and it is in an old metal frame under glass. (looks a little dusty to me) and metal frame shows patina of age . I am not opening the frame because it is a closed frame with tabs or hooks. I don't know if anything is written on the paper other than what can be seen through the glass. According to the internet Sigel was a German Military officer who helped recruit German immigrants to the Union Army . He was the commander at the Battle of Carthage in Missouri July 5, 1861 & fought at Pea Ridge , Wilson's Creek & 2nd Bull Run
