Description: Antique Edwardian ostrich feather and mother-of-pearl fan.The fan belonged to my mother-in-law’s grandmother who had been a debutante and it is understood she wore this as part of her white ensemble when presented to court. Alas, the fan is now very tatty, the mother-of-pearl ‘sticks’ and feathers jumble and there are yellowed glue marks where feathers have once been reattached.Dimensions: approx. 50cm long, 7 feathers. The photo is of the box (belonging to Lady Chambers - my mother-in-law’s great-aunt) in which the fan and other treasures have been stored and preserved for years.
