It is hand stitched made of a fine white linen fabric with a turkey redwork needlework hand embroidered decorative squares pieced patchwork stitched together. This amazing autographed signature friendship quilt bedspread is a commemorative precious keepsake perhaps used as a fundraising tool with many names signed by the people of Boston Massachusetts dated 1900 in the center square, including the local Fire Department Engine Co. 20 Capt. J.M. Littleton, the doctor Frederic L. Kellogg M.D. and many townspeople. There are a variety of decorative designs, figural cats, birds, fish, horse, spiderweb, flowers, flora, fauna, candlestick, boat, anchor, American flag needlework square blocks, with an embroidered ruffle flounce trim edging the entire piece and is fully backed lined in a white cotton fabric. The quilt measures 65 inches long, 57 inches wide and has a 6 inch ruffle flounce trim edging. Each quilt square block is approximately 7 by 8 inches and there are a total of 56 unique individual hand embroidered squares pieced together in a patchwork style with decorative zigzag stitching details. It is in good condition, has not been cleaned with only a few faint age spot stains from storage (see close-ups). This is truly an amazing and rare Boston, MA. historical piece of antique redwork signature quilt art!
