Description: English Mid 19th Century Wax Jack Old Sheffield Plate #3385. A wax Jack is used to heat wax which was then poured on the seam of a letter then stamped with the writers crest. Wax Jack is marked on the bottom with three trademarks and engraved with the number 3385. Item has an attached snuffer and a thumb hold finger handle. Elaborately decorated edging gives this piece an added component of beauty with scalloped corners.
