Description: HENRY CHARLES WOOLLETT ( 1826 - 1893 ) A large signed and dated 1861 oil on canvas by Henry Charles Woollett the english genre and animal painter. He was a prolific painter but little is known about his life - his work is close to that of his contemporaries Herring and Shayer and is very well collected. This work has been relined around 1950 and needs retouching as there is some paint chips but the paint is stable. Title: “The Return of the Harvesters” Signature: Signed lower left and dated 1861 Provenance: Private UK collection Medium: Oil on canvas Size: c. 21 x 21 inches unframed / 25 x 25 framed Condition: Relined c. 1950 - needs retouching as paint chips to surface. Woollett was a painter of rural scenes, especially with horses and other farmyard animals. His style and subject matter is closely related to that of John Frederick Herring, both Snr and Jnr. Although he was a prolific painter, there is little biographical information available on the artist. The draft horses in this work are typical of those delineated in his other paintings. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BUY. THANK YOU additional information I am a private collector liquidating my entire collection of 8000 plus Paintings because of health reason.
