This antique Georgian sterling silver fork has six tines with a plain rounded drop. The anterior surface of the handle is plain and embellished to the terminal with a contemporary engraved crest of out of a cap of maintenance a demi-lion rampant*. The reverse surface of this sterling silver serving fork incorporates a pip. Such original examples are becoming increasingly difficult to locate. * This heraldic crest pertains to the Gilman family. Condition This antique sterling silver fork is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and is in exceptional condition. The engraved heraldic marking is all very crisp. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of the fork are very clear; the hallmarks are deeply struck due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
