Antique Heavy Copper [?] Pint Tankard / Cup, Wonderful Patina and Weight

Description: Antique Heavy Copper [?] Pint Tankard/Cup, Wonderful Patina and Weight. This item has baffled me somewhat as most Gaskell tankards are pewter, however this one seems to have either a copper body or a copper covered body. The inside is pretty scrubby, I am trying to work out whether it is plated with silver that has worn away or if there is pewter is coming through. What is lovely is the age-battered body, this chap has definitely seen a few good nights down the pub. It is marked GASKELL and PINT and at the top it has an A/ and a V over a G R over 31. The number was apparently the year and as the company named changed in 1899, I have assumed it was 1831. NEW INFORMATION. There is a good possibility that the tankard is from an earlier date as it may have been restamped after being retested (thanks to a very kind eBayer who helped me out with this information).
