Description: ANTIQUE HENRY DISSTON 1850’s HAND SAWHere is a rare Henry Disston 1850’s saw. A Henry Disston 26” saw in good condition with an upward looking eagle used in the later 1800’s and 1850’s. The saw plate is in good shape with dark ageing and mild pitting in some areas – but not taking away from the historic look of the saw. No makers mark showing. The apple wood handle is in good condition with good solid horns top and bottom – a little short from use and the years. The deep set eagle medallion is good as are all the original split nuts and screws. The saw plate is in good straight condition, good teeth all there and its original nib up front. I have not sharpened this saw as I see it as a historical saw for a collection. A very historical saw. This is a piece of history that you become the new caretaker of – preserving its perfection for future generations to study. I have recently been selling many tools from my collection in fine condition to woodworkers who have emailed me with compliments on the quality of the tools and their ready to use condition. I am a retired shop teacher, woodworker, and tool collector for over 25 years. I am a long time active member of many antique tool organizations including EAIA, Mid-West & CRAFTS of NJ. I was President of CRAFTS for over 10 years. I know antique hand tools and use them in my shop every day. I use many pictures as they are worth a thousand words and count on them as part of my description. So look them over for all the little details they reveal. I have been selling antique tools continuously on eBay since 1998 and enjoy the friendship of my buyers.
