Description: Offering a very beautiful antique, hand carved wood mold slab from Korea. This is a rice cake or cookie press that was hand carved by a Korean farmer from a single piece of wood. This used to be a traditional craft in Korea during winters when the cold prevented them from working outside. The farmers wives used them to press into the wet rice cakes to create designs and beautify a simple food. This is over 100 years old. This piece measures 20 1/4" in length - is 3 1/4" in width - 2" thick. There is no damage just light wear since it has been displayed as a decoration for many decades. A special aspect of this mold is the artistic carving of delicate sprigs featuring flowers and leaves. The wood shows wear appropriate to it's age.
