Description: Offering a very beautiful antique, hand carved wood mold slab from Korea. This is a rice cake or cookie press that was hand carved by a Korean farmer from a single piece of wood. This used to be a traditional craft in Korea during winters when the cold prevented them from working outside. The farmers wives used them to press into the wet rice cakes to create designs and beautify a simple food. This is over 100 years old. This piece measures 15" in length - is 1 1/2" in width - 1 1/4" thick. There is no damage just light wear as it has been hanging as a decoration for many decades. (there is a hole on one end for this purpose) A special aspect of this mold is that it has hand carved character writing on the back. It says: (name) Bu Won Kim (year) 1894.
