Description: Antique Islamic Turkish Ottoman Crimean Tatar Polish Helmet Misiurka to sword Antique 17th Century Islamic Turkish Ottoman Crimean Tatar Or Polish Helmet Misiurka Click images to enlarge Description Rare antique, 17th century, Islamic Turkish Ottoman, Crimean Tatar, or Polish helmet Misiurka made of a thick, hand-forged steel plate shaped into a shallow dome. It has holes around its rim where a chainmail camail can be attached. The helmet's center also has a hole through which a ring can be passed to hang a suspension tassel. These types of helmets were used by the Polish and Hungarian light armored cavalry. They were either imported from the Ottoman Empire to Poland or obtained as war booty, but they were also produced locally. These Turkish Ottoman helmets are rare and can only be found in museums such as the Topkapi Saray Museum in Istanbul, various Polish Museums, and museums in Austria and Germany. These helmets were taken as war booty from the Turkish Ottoman army, mainly during the battle of Vienna in 1683. References: 1.Die Türken vor Wien Europa und die Entscheidung und der Donau 1683. 2.
