Description: Very very cool, extremely rare and early piece of music/guitar history and innovation. Possibly one of a kind. I brought this piece into Spruce Tree Music (851 E. Johnson St) in Madison, WI to have Will Bremer, a nationally recognized and foremost expert on Fretted and Bowed string instruments (also a PBS recognized expert in this field with regard to appraisals) to have a look and to provide his opinion/assessment of the instrument on September 23rd 2023. I was not disappointed! It is Mr Bremer's opinion that this specific guitar is "historically significant" and "was most likely made specifically to showcase the metal bridge, which was most likely built just after the patent was published." "It's an interesting piece of history because steel strings, let alone metal bridges, just weren't really a thing yet." What makes this a prototype or non-production/sample (possible one-off) in his opinion is that the guitar is not of significant build quality, nor is there any branding (Regal would most likely be if there was), serial number, or markings of any kind. There is evidence of an area inside of the guitar where there may have been signature(s) or perhaps the area was formerly home to a tag of some sort, but since that cannot be confirmed, it is a moot point. One thing he was almost certain of is that this was probably built in Chicago, which, as many of us know, at the time, was a mecca for instrument production of all types. This is your chance to own a piece of history. Guitar comes with non-original, sturdy hardcase. Guitar will be shipped UPS insured for full value. Guitar will be prepared and packed at UPS by staff for shipping.
