Description: A set of five plates. They are a part of the Kings Ware line. Each plate features a character from Charles Dickens novels: Bill Sikes from Oliver Twist, Mr. Pickwick from the Pickwick Papers, Mr. Peggotty and Mr. Micawber from David Copperfield and Captain Cuttle from Dombey and Son. This set of five plates dates to circa the 1900s or 1910s. All of these are in excellent condition. No chips, cracks or crazing. Coalport was founded in Coalport, Shropshire, England by John Rose in the late 1800s. The mark on the bottom consists of a crown and reads, "Coalport, England, A.D. 1750, Kings Ware". This mark dates these plates to pre-1920 or so when the word, "England" was replaced with the phrase, "Made in England". Please review all photos. We will disclose any defects that we can see.
