Description: Exceptionally detailed image of what I believe to be the Boston Massacre. This is based on the presence of a young black drummer and the use of yellow in the British uniforms both would indicate that the British regiment is the 29th and the officer on the horse is Captain Preston. ***The inclusion of the young black drummer in this image is part of what makes this so unique but in keeping with the views and values of Lippard and the Brotherhood Of the Union.*** **NOTE that the wood is split** This rare slide is numbered 25 and appears to be one of many slides used to tell the inspiring early history of the United States that was used by and for The Brotherhood of the Union. Other slides from this series are available- I will combine shipping. Check out my store under the category > Collectibles. BOTHERHOOD OF THE UNION: The Brotherhood Of the Union was founded by George Lippard - a striking young idealist writer in Philadelphia in 1849. The Brotherhood was a pro worker, social justice, land reform 'secret' organization with ties to the anti slavery movement ~ some chapters welcomed black members. Lippard died at the young age of 32 from either pneumonia or tuberculosis. Membership grew and the last chapter existed until 1994. ' ...to espouse the cause of the Masses, and battle against the tyrants of the Social System, - against corrupt Bankers, against Land Monopolist and against all Monied Opressors.' ~ Lippman
