This primitive money currency specimen is in great tribally used antique condition with a lot of wear and patina from being buried. This currency specimen measures 2.76 inches across by 2.77 inches tall. Manilla bracelets were used extensively as currency in West Africa from the 15th to the 20th century. During the Transatlantic slave trade manilla bracelets were a frequent medium of exchange for slaves by European traders and then the manilla bracelets went on to be a main currency of many African peoples. Currency bracelets & anklets served as indications of wealth and were used to store finances, pay for dowries and buy or trade for livestock and goods.
