Description: "Carte Générale de L'Empire Des Russes en Europe et en Asie, dressée d'après les cartes de l'Atlas Russien" A large two-sheet map of the Russian Empire, showing from Finland to Kamchatka, based on Russian sources. However there are several areas not yet mapped, including the east coast of Novaya Zemlya, and the mythical 'Jedso' and 'Terre De Compagnie' appear. The left sheet has a decorative title cartouche featuring bears, windheads and the Imperial Eagle; the right sheet has a glossary of Russian and Tartar geographical terms. Blank Verso. Sheet size: 54.5 x 77 cm. Excellent condition: original outline colour, faint damp staining in margins (see pictures). Shipment to be arranged via registered mail.
