Description: A gorgeous pair of mid-19th century Mexican gold earrings fashioned as birds in flowering branches, their nests full of eggs in a style found in Victorian jewelry, primarily French and English earrings. One sees the Victorians love of the natural world reflected in these earrings. The gold is both yellow and rose and the birds are oxidized (blackened) silver. Turquoise cabochons and seed pearls embellish the pair and the articulated tops, with securely closing ear wires are also set with turquoise. Three gold dangles are suspended from the bottom and provide lively movement when the earrings are worn. I've seen a few iterations of this style of earring, and I've seen similar pendants too. They're really special, and very beautiful when worn. The measurements are 2 1/2” from the top of the ear wire to the longest dangle x 1” at the widest point. (6.3cm x 2.5cm). Please ask if you have any questions.
