Description: An absolutely gorgeous antique Mission/Arts & Crafts/Craftsman Oak Frame. Dating to around 1900-1910, the frame is made of Quartersawn Oak with it's original finish revealing an incredible grain with a rich, dark stain and a great patina. The large frame measures approximately 26 inches by 16 inches with an inside measurement of approximately 21 1/4 inches by 16 1/4. Frame can be hung either horizontally or vertically. The frame is in excellent condition, especially for a frame that is over 100 years old, and is tight, sturdy and sound. There are some minor, barely noticeable chips on the exterior perimeter of the frame, one being in one corner (pic 20); all commensurate with age. The frame originally held an antique sepia print of Shakespeare's wife Anne Hathaway's cottage and was backed by wood shingles and nails. I have included photos of the front and back of the frame before these were removed to further attest to the age of the frame. A wonderful period antique quartersawn oak frame to hold a painting, print or photograph as well as a fantastic addition to any Mission, Arts & Crafts or Craftsman decor.
