Description: This is a pretty rare Arts & Crafts mission fumed oak mantel clock from the early 1900s. It is unsigned but most likely made by L & J. G. Stickley. It has the mortised construction on the sides. The finish is original and very clean. The movement is a signed Seth Thomas brass movement which Stickley had in all of their mantel clocks they made. It measures 14.75 inches in height, 9.25 inches wide, 5 inches in depth, the copper face plate measures approx. 7.75 x 7 7/8 inches. When you wind the left side hole for the bell it is wound tight, the right side does wind and works for about a minute, im sure it hasnt been cleaned in 80 years and probably just needs a cleaning adjustment. I have tried looking everywhere for this specific clock and i could not find it at auction anywhere and i looked at a lot of places. It does have attributes of Stickley clocks that i found but too me this one is nicer with the mortised sides. It is definitely a factory made clock such as Stickley, Roycroft , Limbert or others . It is definitely not a home made clock. I was hoping it was a Gustav Stickley but i could not find the "Als ik kan" red mark anywhere. It might have had a Gustav Stickley paper label on the inside at one time and could have fallen off, so it might be a Gustav Stickley clock and worth 4x the starting bid. If someone has more info on it please email me and i will add to the description. Maybe its pictured in an old Stickley catalog somewhere, but i dont have access to the old catalogs. It has to be a very unique clock since it hasnt shown up in auction records on liveauctioneers or even major auction houses i looked at.
