Description: This beautiful high chair is from the Victorian era. This oak high chair is extra-large, with a carved back and collapsible up and down motion. This children’s solid oak high chair dates from the 1890s and is in refinished condition. Someone went right through this, replaced the cane seat.It has the original tray, which is usually gone. a 3- or 4-inch wheels on the base, and they are not necessary for the chair to work. It still works as a high chair for half way down and down to the floor. You release the spring latch in the back to adjust the height. When the chair is straight up, the size is 17 inches across the tray, 22 inches deep, 41 inches high to the press back, 24 inches high to the seat, 31 inches high to the tray and 30 inches high to the arm. The footrest is intact and that is 18 inches when the chair is in the upright most position. All of these measurements are from the floor up. Then when you pull the latch and let the antique high chair go down to the next adjustment the overall height is approximately 38 inches high to the back & approximately 28 inches high to the tray. When you release the latch again and let t down to the bottom, which would have been the stroller/walker setting it is 29 inches high to the back and 31 inches high to the handle. This antique high chair is wonderful, with the press back design that is 9 inches wide which is usually only 6 inches.
