Description: ARTIST: Unknown. The painting is unsigned, but is a reproduction of a painting by famous Danish artist Julius Exner. PAINTING: Oil on canvas. The painting is a wonderful scene with a young lad trying to impress a young girl, who seems to be the object of his affection. Judging from the way she shyly turns her head, she seems unimpressed with his efforts, and brilliantly the artist has him holding the handle of the door, as if he is ready to walk away any minute, if she rejects him. Both characters are wearing the traditional clothes of the people living on Amager – a Danish island – which is now considered a part of Copenhagen. Based on the type of frame and the style of painting, I’ll date it to the late 19th century. Unsigned. SIZE: With frame: 37 cm/14.6" * 30 cm/11.8". Without frame: 30 cm/11.8" * 23 cm/9.1". CONDITION: The painting is in great ready-to-hang condition - no holes, tears or missing paint, although it seems to have been repaired. The frame has scratches and stains.
