Description: ARTIST: Viggo Pedersen is a well-listed Danish artist, whose works have been offered at auctions (such as Bruun Rasmussen, Sotheby’s and Bonham’s) multiple times, who was an exhibitor both internationally (F.ex. in Paris, Chicago, Berlin and London) and at the famous Charlottenborg. He graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in Copenhagen in 1878 and has won several awards for his works. He spent years in Italy, Paris, Germany and Switzerland together with an inner circle of other Danish artists. He is very versatile in his choice of motifs and scenes, and he also experiments with different artistic styles – such as expressionism, realism, synthetism and impressionism. PAINTING: Oil on board. The painting is a great, impressionistic rendering of a whitewashed farmhouse with thatched roof, which is half concealed by the lush trees in the garden. There’s a small plaquette on the front of the frame saying “Proff. Viggo Pedersen: 1854-1926”. I’ll date it to somewhere between 1900-1920. Signed: “Viggo Pedersen” in the lower left corner. SIZE: With frame: 70,5 cm/27.8" * 63,5 cm/25". Without frame: 52 cm/20.5" * 45 cm/17.7". CONDITION: The painting is in great ready-to-hang condition - no holes, tears or missing paint. The frame has minor scratches and stains.
