Description: Back in the 1980's I used to travel around looking in Antique places for old knives to collect. Occasionally I would run into other stuff and found this old powder horn with, what I thought at the time was a reasonable price, so I bought it and put it on a shelf. Over the years I occasionally would pick it up and just admire it and wonder what stories it could tell. This one does not have black powder in it so consider it empty in that regard, but it does have 25-75 (I did not count) lead shot inside it. They vary in size a tiny bit which makes me think these were hand poured from a tower and dropped while molten to form in round balls. I have been told these are very old shot. A fellow I know has had a huge collection of black powder horns over the years and I asked him to come over and appraise the ones I had. He brought tags and gave me his "best guess" about the probably time frame it was made and what he thought it was worth at the time. That was about 15 or more years ago so I left his tag in the photo of the horn which is more flat than round. The horn is about 6 1/2 inches long and the base is about 1 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches. He thought the plug was newer and I agreed with him. Without the shot it would be relatively light. Based upon what the guy who looked at, and appraised my horn, is it from the 1860's or later or earlier, I do not know. Selling it as is and let the photos be the description. So I am not going to put this horn up for bids, but will put it up for Buy it Now for less than what he thought it was worth when he appraised them. $17 with no offers.
