Description: I have up for sale an amazing oversized antique / vintage original circa 1880s- 1890s Parlor Lamp - originally oil but converted to electricity way way back. The inner lamp lights up as does the top socket. As you can see this is a Gorgeous Lamp , one of the nicest of this type that I have seen or had. Its an over sized lamp , stands approx 25" to the top of the socket , weighs approx 11 lbs 8 ounces . The glass part itself stands / measures approx 16" tall . The shade holder is for a 4-1/8" shade bottom rim. The transfer scene is lovely , features a Medieval Man with Sword standing behind a lovely woman who is holding a Rose in her hands. There is a beautiful flower vase in front of her. There is also some hand painted decor as well , the gold tracery is hand done as are some of the flower parts , the scene is a transfer . I have never seen another lamp with this same transfer nor do you see many this large . Its a very special lamp - hopefully my pics do it justice, when seen in person its just outstanding. There are some minor imperfections , some wear to the backside of the glass where the transfer scene was worn down to the white opaline glass underneath. The lamp is unmarked so I am unsure of the maker , it may very well be French in original based on the theme and decoration. No damages to the glass but there is some wear on the back side as shown in my pics. As noted the lamp was originally kerosene converted to electricity many many moons back. The wiring appears safe but you may want to rewire just to be safe. As stated in teh condition report , I replaced the wiring that attached to the upper socket and spliced it with the wiring inside the cavity. The photo of the underside of the font was taken prior to me doing the rewiring. If you want to convert it back to oil/kerosene you would either have to undo the solder that holds the socket in place or simply replace the entire font. It looks like it would soldered part could be undone but sometimes things look easy , that is until you have to actually do them.
