Description: Handsome Antique pair of Victorian parlor chairs. Cupid Motif fabric. The pair are gracefully curved lines of the balloon backs taper to a pronounced 'waistline' Victorian circa 1880's. PRICE IS FOR THE PAIR. If in perfect condition they would cost much more. Parlor chairs is in Revival manner expressed with great style and invention-richly crafted, with cabriole legs, and is made of solid Mahogany or Rosewood . The upholstered side chairs rest on casters, smaller armchair, or ladies armchair style- several of casters missing. The pair are upholstered with an oval panel in the back. The lovely but worn upholstery is original with a vignette of cupids amidst a formal design of flowers.Crafted in similar manner to the furniture of the fine Victorian cabinetmaking. The overall form and detail suggests an attribution to some of the highly sophisticated cabinetmakers, and bears kinship to works with similar hallmark of style.Size: Approximate 37 " tall-21" deep Elegant mahogany Victorian fire side ladies chair dating back to the late 19th century.This fine with cabriole legs, and is made of solid handsome wood, medallion curved backs,old original horsehair stuffing. Condition: The Chair frames have some minor repair issues as I am not a furniture expert check out photos for details,some seperation in joints . The under lining is loose and springs would need to be tightened on both chairs. There is some wear to wood typical of their age. The stuffing will need repair and backing, The seats have a spring foundation with fabric that is in not good condition. Beautiful old fabric but you could easiuly re-upholster them . A beautiful pair with wonderful aged patina, lovely form and structure . Decorated elements of classical style and fine artistry with nice craftsmanship.- Maker:These could have been made by Meeks, Roux, or a number of other fine furniture makers in the 1850's to the 1870's Provenance: This pair of chairs was from my parent's collection and stood for 50 years in their home amidst many antiques, Belter and the like.
