Description: We own a 123 year old poultry barn and we’re told this is the axe that cut the chickens heads off. The wood handle measures 35 3/4” at longest. Do study cracks in wood. The blade is appx. 11” x 2 8/8” x appx 1/4” at thick (not blade) edge. I’ve also been told this is a Fireman axe. Fireman Brush axe ? You only can identify, Not me ! As I mentioned in title, is this possibly a home made tool ? The iron wrapped around wood to attach blade looks to be a “necessity breed’s ingenuity “ sort of situation? Again, do note condition of wood handle with splits in wood.
