Description: I like to be as forthcoming as possible, so here it is: I know absolutely nothing about this item. I've tried researching it, but I cannot find anything like it. Here is what I do know: This item was acquired from the estate of two elderly women in NJ who collected many AMAZING antique/primitive items from all over the world. I do not know if this piece is Native American, European, or... ? I really wish I could tell you its origin, but I can tell it is very old. I also noticed light pencil marks on the bottom of the jug (see photo), which I suspect were placed there by one of the old women for an unknown reason. The letters look like "is." Perhaps that's a clue? Measurements are shown in photos. I do not see any markings, but if you have any questions, I will do my best to answer them for you.
