(Transl: Collection of 100 engravings representing the different Levant Nations.) This work is 'the most popular and influential illustration of Turkish dress', commissioned by Charles de Ferriol. It illustrates the regional, religious and national costume of the Turkish empire. Artists and Engravers: Engraved by Gerard Scotin (1643-1715), engraver. after a painting by Jean-Baptiste Vanmour (1671-1737). Jean Baptiste Vanmour or Van Mour was a Flemish-French painter, remembered for his detailed portrayal of life in the Ottoman Empire during the Tulip Era and the rule of Sultan Ahmed III. Many of his paintings are now in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.
