Description: This amazing antique Chinese bronze sword is in in the manner of the Song or earlier dynasties but I believe it dates to the Qing period. It is a short sword (22 3/4") and the blade is inscribed with what might be ancient "seal script". It is cast in one piece and has the image of a fish on both sides of the handle and and a lion mask cross guard (also on both sides). I think the sword is possibly a "talisman jian" or a ceremonial sword. It has a fine dark brown bronze patina with layers of verdigris. It is likely the sword is from the 19th c. but could be earlier. Stock number SA2D-250
