History of ribbon: My father was an engineer on the Pennsylvania Railroad and was a Union Representative for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He represented men for the PRR, and attended a BLE convention in Ohio in the 1960's. An avid button/badge collector, he favored railroad buttons and badges as well as historical/political badges and memorabilia. He corresponded, bought and traded with others in a national button club, and kept a log. In his log he states the badge was purchased in 1966 from J.F. Systma. Some more history: The Brotherhood of the Footboard was founded in 1863, and in 1864 changed its name to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers (BLE).
