Description: WOW! WOW! WOW! Boston and Sandwich Glass Works (Sandwich, Massachusetts, 1825–1888) Paddle wheel boat form, medium opaque baby blue.H 1 5/8" x L 3 5/8" x W 1 3/4" Most likely made to commemorate the steamship "Lafayette" which had routes in the vicinity of coastal Massachusetts. The elegant boat shape is full of detail and the medium opaque baby blue makes it a standout piece. The delicate lacy glass pattern is a testament to the Victorian decor of the 1800s. The Boston & Sandwich brand adds to its value and collectibility of this piece. It does show some wear from nearly 200 years ago, but still this piece is a perfect addition to any collection. Please see the photos as further description of flea bites or nibbles. There are small nibbles around most of the inside of the boat. There is also small nibbles next to the rudder of the boat beneath the B&S on the back. the rim and base edges have manufacturing related fretting & flaking. I cannot see any cracks but above SANDWICH inside boat may have a fracture or a seam - it is hard to tell. This is a historic piece of American pressed glass. Even with it's flaws it is a extremely RARE and exquisite open salt dish and a true collector's item! No returns, see pictures. Please contact with any questions.
