Description: A antique set of Drawing Instruments, made of German silver (Electrum). They are stored in their original campaign style brass bound Oak case, which has a blue velvet lined fitted tray, which lifts out to reveal a compartment below. The set includes a ebony parallel rule and a brass, plus a boxwood protractor ( small chip to corner) and 3 spring bows plus two line pens etc etc. The case is fitted with a brass lock, which is working fine using the original key. They were retailed in Birmingham, by Bailey Opticians, who were open from 1880 to 1900. The case is very good quality, with brass screws holding its cover and base, plus a gilt brass escutcheon and cartouch, marked with the original owners name - PHILIP B CHATWIN. It measures 8" or 203 mm wide x 6 1/2" or 16.5 cm deep x 1 7/8" or 48 mm high. The instruments are not marked, but are good quality with some having jointed legs. The blue silk on the underside of the cover is torn. They date to the Victorian period and are in a good used condition. Please see photos. I have a similar set listed, which were made by W. H. Harling, 117 Moorgate, London and I will combine postage
