Antique Silver, Meerschaum & Amber Cigar Holder in Case- c1900

Description: Antique Cigar Holder Click image to enlarge Description This cigar holder has a Meerschaum section to the end and a brandy-coloured amber mouthpiece, and both are connected by a plain silver band. Unfortunately, there are no marks on the silver but, having personally tested it, I will fully guarantee that it is made of 800 grade silver (80% purity). I would think this piece originated in Europe – perhaps Germany – around the turn of the 20th century. It is presented in its original leather-covered case with push button clasp and green velvet lining inside. Although this is a usable item, there are a few issues to bring to your attention. There is a chip to the end of the mouthpiece although it is quite smooth. To the meerschaum, there appears to be a 5mm crack along the edge of the silver band. Because of its location by the silver band, it’s quite stable and it appears to be quite an old fracture as it’s quite stained. The silver is in good order with the exception of two small dinks. The case is in good condition with working clasp and just some small scuffs to the exterior. The velvet inside does have some staining at both ends caused through use. Please be aware that this is a used item so there will be residues and abrasions resulting from that.
