These type of chairs were produced a little lower to the floor and with no arms, so the woman of the house could feed their babies easier, and also do their mending and sewing, with easy access to their sewing baskets. The chair is sturdy and does not wobble and can actually be used or would look nice with a quilt or throw placed on it. The chair is put together by dowels. There are no identifying marks on the bottom. It appears to be handcrafted and possibly dates back to the late 1800's. If you have any other questions you would like answered, please email me.
