Description: Antique Sterling Silver Repousse Decorated Thread Box George Shiebler New York For Your Antique Sterling Silver Box Collection-ThreadBox1 Details Description: This is an antique Sterling Silver small thread box from New York USA. The box has Maker's Mark for George Shiebler & Co. which was in business in New York in the period 1876-1910. This is a small cylindrical box composed of two parts. The box is decorated with a nice repeating repousse pattern. The box would house a small spool of thread, which would be threaded into the small hole in the bottom portion of the box and would be pulled out for use by positioning an opening in the top portion in alignment with the hole on the bottom portion. The box has a monogram on top in the form of the letter "E" in cursive calligraphy. The entire box is decorated with a repousse scroll design and truly looks great. The bottom of the box is plain, smooth, and is marked with the word STERLING; a Winged letter "S" (the mark of George Shiebler & Co.), and the number 3152. We believe the box could use a good cleaning but we leave this to the discretion of the new owner. The piece is small and measures ~1 1/8" in diameter and ~1 5/8" inn height. The box is relatively clean and shiny. Just a great and wonderful antique that very seldom comes in such a good condition. Please view photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
