Description: Antique primitive timber marking tool from Vermont. This is made of forged steel. One marking scribe is exposed and the other one is in a recessed area and it swivels out for use. The handle is maple and has a dark brown original patina. There is an old label on the handle, which I think is an old museum tag. This tool was made circa 1820-1850. The loggers would use these to mark the logs as they cut them. The tool measures; 5" long by 1" in diameter
